As home entertainment technologies advance there are more and more opportunities to use them in the home. We’re always amazed by the new innovations for theatre & audio systems, home automation and more, and wanted to show you some of the fabulous technology that can enhance your home décor.

Magic Mirror on the Wall…

TV’s aren’t necessarily the most attractive item in the home, and many homes have multiple televisions throughout (in bedrooms, playrooms, man caves, etc.). But what about when we don’t want to watch television? These days there are special TVs that when not in use, ‘magically’ become reflective, like a mirror.

The look is being taken a step further by companies such as Sydney Picture Frames and Hidden Television. Yes… we are talking about adding a stunning picture frame to a wall-mounted TV… It’s the ultimate way to conceal a TV in plain sight!

While the frame options are quite traditional at present, we’re sure that as the concept becomes more popular, contemporary frames will be added to the range.

Televisions as a Feature

While we’re on the subject of TVs, you may have seen Samsung’s latest creation: the Pure & White 55″ 4K Ultra HD HDR Premium Curved Smart TV with timber-look tripod stand. This set works on the concept of the TV being more than just another appliance, but also an important part of a room’s décor… though we were a little saddened to hear that you can’t display a stationary image as ‘artwork’ without turning the screen off, onto standby mode.

Sneaky Sound Systems

Gone are the days of bulky, conspicuous speakers and sound systems. Of course we know that surround sound speakers can be integrated into walls and ceilings to keep them hidden (check out the amazing in-wall and in-ceiling speakers by Jensen), but technology is now allowing for sleek and almost invisible soundbars (like the SoundTouch 300 Soundbar by Bose or the Playbar by Sonos), as well as sculptural speakers that can double as decorative accessories. Check out the image from Bang & Olufsen below… can you spot all the tech pieces?

 Operational Systems

There are now many companies who can automate your home entertainment system, security system, power and lights, window covering operation and more. They can even set it so you can control all this from your smartphone or iPad.
