Has Your Home Decor Caught Spring Fever Yet?

by Creative Style Interiors

I just love this time of year… the air is fragrant, the days are warmer and the colours more vibrant. Spring is a sensory feast, and it’s descended upon our lives very fast this year. The time has come to pack away the layers of winter and let the sunshine into your home.

You’ve stowed the blankets and doonas, donated that pile of books and winter clothing, and done the annual  ‘spring clean’. Are you now feeling the need to breathe new life into the colours around the house? Well, your timing is perfect!

Dulux have released their 2015 colour forecast with four seemingly different schemes that share one common element: a retro theme.

  • Earthwerks
Mid-century inspired greens; Emerald, Lime, Mustard, Chocolate, Mint and Moss

Not sure how to introduce these colours to your home? Do you repaint, or should you start with something simpler like the humble scatter cushion? A couple of cushions (or more if you’re game) in an experimental colour or pattern on your sofa or bed is one of the easiest and inexpensive ways to try out something new without committing to a new colour scheme, furniture and window coverings. The added bonus of the scatter cushion is that anytime you feel like changing up your home a little, all you need do is change the cushion covers. Brilliant!

If you’re ready to take it to the next level, try including some decorative accessories such as lamps, vases, tableware, rugs and flowers. These items can really freshen up your room without even touching your expensive upholstery or wall colours.
